The Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery exhibition galleries will close to the public on Sunday 25 July 2010 in order to prepare for HBMAG's
upcoming 18 million dollar redevelopment project.
The HBMAG Education Service and will continue to operate throughout the redevelopment project.
Even though the exhibition galleries at the Museum will be closed we will still have a full programme of activities available at the Faraday
Centre and HBMAG Discovery Centre every day of the week, and a range of exciting new programmes led by our Educators in other locations.
For a fun, hands-on, educational experience, choose one of the programmes in this booklet or talk to us about tailoring a programme to meet your teaching focus.
Full teachers’ notes are available for all programmes.
At the Faraday Centre, children can operate some of the historical technology on display and there's always something new to see and
do. HBMAG's popular Early Settlers and 1931 Hawke's Bay Earthquake programmes will continue and we are planning new programmes, including
historic walks, for the summer terms.
The programmes are designed to supplement a variety of curriculum areas and can be tailored to individual needs.
Sessions generally start with an introduction, followed by a guided tour through the gallery or exhibit with supplied
worksheets, and a hands-on response activity to what students have seen.
Sessions are $4 per student. Adults accompanying school groups are free. Programmes are generally 1½ hours duration.
