About Us

The Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery exhibition galleries will close to the public on Sunday 25 July 2010 in order to prepare for HBMAG's upcoming 18 million dollar redevelopment project.

The Century Theatre and Cinema will remain open. Please see the theatre or cinema pages for more information.

The HBMAG Education Service will continue throughout the redevelopment project, operating from the Education Discovery Centre, The Faraday Centre and other sites throughout the region. Please see the education page for more information.

The Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery will continue to hold events during the redevelopment. Please see the events page for more information.

Hours of Opening

The Hawke's Bay Museum has two entrances, one off the Marine Parade and another one off Herschell Street.

Exhibition Galleries: are closed to the public from Monday 26 July 2010

The Century Theatre/Cinema is open

Cinema Ticket Sales are available: Thursday - Sunday from 1pm

Extended ticket sales will be available over the 2010 International Film Festival:

Monday 9 to Tuesday 17 August 2010 12pm - 5.30pm

Wednesday 18 August to Sunday 5 September from 12pm

Berry Historical Library @ HBMAG
The Berry Historical Library is a research facility which houses an extensive collection of photographs, books and other archival material pertaining to Hawke's Bay.

Berry Historical Library @ HBMAG is now closed to the public. In order to prepare our collections for the redevelopment the library will be closed to the public from Monday 28 June 2010 and will not be able to respond to enquiries. There will also be a moratorium on donations to the archive and collection until April 2011. We thank you for your understanding.
